In other news, the little "ornamental" purple peppers I have are Pretty in Purple, or possibly Pretty Purple (but mine are closer to 2cm than 1 inch), and I should wait until they turn red to pick. They are, as I suspected, very hot. No explanation as to why they are considered ornamental other than the plant (purpley leaves, lavender flowers, and deep purple fruit) is pretty and smallish.
